The Mountain Institute's Appalachia Program educates and involves citizens committed to healthy environments and communities in the Appalachian region.
I wonder how many times they heard that question in June of 1975? Thanks to Joanna Allen for these wonderful shots. If anyone has anymore pictures from back in the day, I'd love to share them.
These photographs are so educational. My first encounter with the main yurt in July of 2006 felt like an adventure. There was so much to see and admire. Every plank, stair tread, walls of stone and wood, natural light streaming through the skylights... and ahhh, the aroma from the kitchen as Kimmy wielded her magic. This should be listed among "The One Thousand Places to See Before you Die."
